If capitalism is a superior economic system, why were the social problems of the late 1800s and early 1900s not solved? Why did the new industries, such as railroads, oil companies, auto manufacturing, not solve the issues of discrimination, wage gaps, poverty, lack of housing? Capitalism only made these problems worse. Today we do not have pure capitalism, but a system which serves monopolies and therefore, wealthy people.
